India will tour New Zealand for a multi-format series in October-December, as part of New Zealand Cricket’s busy home summer of 2026/27.

New Zealand will host India for five T20Is, five ODIs, and two Tests across the five major centres. According to NZC, it’s the biggest in-bound tour in terms of matches (12) in NZ history. The two Tests will be played at the Cello Basin Reserve, Wellington and Hagley Oval, Christchurch, scheduled on the back of the white-ball tour that begins on October 22.

India haven’t toured New Zealand since the 2019/20 tour to play Tests, although New Zealand have visited them twice since, including their 2024/25 tour, which saw them effect a historic 3-0 Test whitewash.

The ODI series involving India will give New Zealand fans a chance to potentially see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in action in the ODI setup, the only format the two white-ball greats haven’t retired from. With the ODI World Cup next year, the five ODIs will serve as ideal preparation in the lead-up.

In the shortest format, they last faced each other in the T20 World Cup final this year. Prior to that, New Zealand had toured India to play eight white-ball games at the start of the year. Although they won the ODI series 2-1, New Zealand were hammered 4-1 in the T20I leg.

India tour of New Zealand 2026/27: Full schedule

New Zealand’s hosting duties continue thereafter, with the women’s team set to play three T20Is and as many ODIs against Bangladesh. Due to the rescheduling of the inaugural ICC Women’s T20I Champions Trophy to February, New Zealand Women’s tour of Australia in February-March will not go ahead. Instead, the tour will be rescheduled.

The Men’s team will then proceed to tour Australia for four Tests before returning home to host Sri Lanka for another full series. That series will kick off with three ODIs followed by three T20Is to be played in January 2027. Following the conclusion of the white-ball leg, the two teams will then play two Test matches to conclude New Zealand’s home summer.

“When it comes to cricket – it simply doesn’t get bigger than India and we’re determined to deliver New Zealanders a tour like no other,” NZC Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, Glenn Critchley said. “This will be about more than just the cricket on the field – it will be a celebration of New Zealand’s shared history and culture with India, and our burgeoning rivalry and friendship through cricket. The passion and the following this team has is staggering – not to mention some of the players expected to tour such as Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah – so we’re bracing for the intensity and fandom that will accompany the tour.”

© Cricbuzz

India SRH in IPL 2026: A season of redemption and renewed belief RR in IPL 2026: Teen wonder at the wheel India series headlines New Zealand’s bumper home summer Ellis four-fer makes it 1-1 Capsey, Knight star in England’s series-clinching win Sultana, Moni help Bangladesh break duck in tri-series

India tour of New Zealand, 2026 India series headlines New Zealand’s bumper home summer by Cricbuzz Staff • India will be playing a Test match in New Zealand after more than six years. © AFP India will be playing a Test match in New Zealand after more than six years. © AFP India will tour […]

[12903
12904
post-409521","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-12903","tag-12904
["GET
