ANAHEIM, Calif. — \u2014\u00a0Wade Meckler\u00a0and\u00a0Jo Adell\u00a0keyed a five-run second inning with two-run doubles, and Walbert Ure\u00f1a navigated heavy traffic through five shutout innings to lead the\u00a0Los Angeles Angels\u00a0to a 10-1 victory over the\u00a0Houston Astros\u00a0on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Houston put two runners on in the first, second and fifth and loaded the bases in the third, but Ure\u00f1a (4-4) pitched out of each jam to lower his ERA to 2.44 on the season and 1.84 in eight starts since early May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 22-year-old right-hander gave up three hits, struck out seven and walked five in his 107-pitch effort, which included a 97 mph fastball to whiff\u00a0Joey Loperfido\u00a0with the bases loaded to end the third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Angels scored two unearned runs off starter\u00a0Kai-Wei Teng\u00a0(3-5) in the first, one when\u00a0Nolan Schanuel\u00a0was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and the other on Oswald Peraza\u2019s RBI grounder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Backup catcher Sebasti\u00e1n Rivero sparked the Angels\u2019 second-inning rally with a one-out single.\u00a0Zach Neto\u00a0was hit by a pitch and\u00a0Mike Trout\u00a0snapped an 0-for-22 slump with a single to load the bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meckler doubled to left-center for two runs and a 4-0 lead. Adell doubled to left to make it 6-0, and Peraza\u2019s RBI groundout extended it to 7-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Angels added three insurance runs in the eighth on Trey Mancini\u2019s sacrifice fly and RBI groundouts by Peraza and\u00a0Denzer Guzman. Los Angeles relievers\u00a0Brent Suter,\u00a0Drew Pomeranz\u00a0and\u00a0Kirby Yates\u00a0covered the final four innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Schanuel, who has been slowed by a left ankle injury, exited after three innings because of left calf tightness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rivero, who also singled in the third and has seven hits in his last seven at-bats, was removed in the fifth because of a left wrist injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
