New York Knicks\u00a0center\u00a0Karl-Anthony Towns\u00a0believes divine intervention played a role in the team’s historic comeback in Game 4 of the 2026\u00a0NBA\u00a0Finals against the\u00a0San Antonio Spurs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Knicks trailed by as many as 29 points in Wednesday’s contest but clawed their way back to a 107-106 win to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. New York forward OG Anunoby completed the\u00a0largest comeback\u00a0in NBA Finals history with a tip-in after guard Jalen Brunson missed a three-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Right hand from God,”\u00a0Towns said\u00a0of Anunoby’s shot, per Howard Beck of The Ringer. “Right hand of God.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We doubt Anunoby’s hands possess any sacred powers, but they did plenty of great work for the Knicks in Game 4. He scored a playoff-high 33 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field, grabbed four rebounds, logged one assist and blocked one key shot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before his tip-in that saved the Knicks, Anunoby chased down Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox, rejecting a layup that would’ve given San Antonio a 108-105 lead and\u00a0potentially sealed the game. The shot was still much more memorable and will be one of the series’ defining moments.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n“That has to be the most iconic shot in the history of New York basketball,” Knicks head coach Mike Brown said, per Stephen Whyno and Tim Reynolds of the\u00a0Associated Press. “I’m not you guys. You guys know better than me. But it was just unbelievable.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Anunoby’s layup probably will be ranked the No. 1 shot in Knicks history if they win the series, ending a 53-year championship drought. New York will do so if it beats the Spurs in Game 5 in San Antonio on Saturday (ABC, 8:30 p.m. ET). If New York wins the title, more Knicks fans could join Towns in insisting Anunoby’s tip-in was the act of a supreme being. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
