Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana led the way with a half-century before fast bowler Ritu Moni returned career-best figures of 4-12 to help their side to a 34-run victory over Scotland in Edinburgh. This was Bangladesh’s first win of the tri-series, also involving Netherlands, after two successive losses.

But it wasn’t always smooth sailings for Bangladesh. They fell to 23/3 in the fourth over and ran the risk of a batting collapse and an eventual third defeat. But captain Sultana picked up the pieces and put them together through a 77-run partnership with Sobhana Mostary, who scored 39 off 31 – with five fours and a six.

Scotland broke that alliance at a crucial juncture, with Bangladesh on 100 in the 13th over, but Sultana found another able ally in Shorna Akter, who chipped in with 20 off 23. Bangladesh managed 42 runs off the last five overs to give their bowlers a competent total to work with.

Scotland suffered a similarly damaging start but couldn’t quite climb back like Sultana & Co. Akter Meghla and Marufa Akter reduced the chasing side to 1 for 2, and Marufa then sent the captain Kathryn Pryce packing in the seventh over. Sarah Bryce tried to fight it out by stringing together a couple of stands, but none stood the test of time as Moni began to make inroads.

Moni accounted for Sarah, Scotland’s best batter on the day, and then helped her team run through the tail in quick time. She finished with figures of 4-12 in just two overs as Scotland lost six wickets for just 32 runs, falling from 86/4 to 118 all-out in the space of six overs.

Brief Scores:Bangladesh 152/6 in 20 overs (Nigar Sultana 58, Sobhana Mostary 39; Maisie Maceira 2-23, Kathryn Bryce 2-26, Kirstie Gordon 1-18) beat Scotland 118 in 19 overs (Sarah Bryce 40; Ritu Moni 4-12, Marufa Akter 2-13) by 34 runs

Alice Capsey and Heather Knight starred in England’s series-clinching win over India in the final T20I in Taunton on Tuesday (June 2). The two batters shared a massive century stand that helped England recover from a precarious position in the run chase to eventually hunt down a target of 181.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge got castled as early as in the second over and Sophia Dunkley picked out Jemimah Rodrigues in the deep as England lost their openers in the first three overs. Kranti Gaud also managed to get rid of Amy Jones in the final over of the Powerplay but Capsey made her intentions clear right at the start by finishing that over with 6, 4, 4. That was a sign of things to come as she continued to feast on the Indian bowling attack by fetching boundaries at will to race to 37 off just 15 despite those early setbacks.

At the other end, Knight also grew in confidence and picked up boundaries against the Indian spinners. That boundary-spree post the Powerplay turned the game on its head as England now took control at the halfway mark. Capsey then brought up her half-century off just 26 deliveries whereas Knight inched closer to hers with two more boundaries of Nandni Sharma.

Once Knight reached her landmark, Capsey appeared to be in a hurry to finish things off as she took on Shree Charani to smash a four and follow that up with successive sixes that left her side needing just 28 from the final five overs. Even though Capsey finally departed for 82, victory was never in doubt for England as Knight put India out of their misery with a boundary in the penultimate over to wrap up the win.

Earlier in the evening, India managed to post 180 on the board despite losing their openers cheaply like England did in the chase. Shafali Verma mistimed one to depart for 11 and Smriti Mandhana was trapped plumb in front by Charlie Dean. Yastika Bhatia, who looked in fine nick already in the series, ensured India still made the best use of the Powerplay. She found the fence seven times to make sure India raced to 57 in the Powerplay but her blitz was cut short immediately via a run out.

Just when it appeared like Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur would rebuild the innings, England struck again. Lauren Bell, returning to the attack, executed an excellent slower delivery that dipped in to crash into Rodrigues’s stumps. England then managed to squeeze in a few tight overs before Harmanpreet found her rhythm again. The Indian skipper managed to get her fifty but India would have certainly wanted more than the 48 they managed in the final five overs, which eventually cost them the game.

Brief scores: India Women 180/5 in 20 overs (Harmanpreet Kaur 56*, Yastika Bhatia 32; Lauren Bell 2-36) lost to England Women 184/4 in 18.3 overs (Alice Capsey 82, Heather Knight 70*; Arundhati Reddy 2-31) by 6 wickets

Australia bounced back in the ODI series in style as a four-wicket haul from Nathan Ellis was instrumental in them squaring the series after losing the opening game. On a Lahore surface that was low and slow, Australia struggled with the bat but managed to get the job done with the ball to eke out a convincing 41-run win.

Australia made a disastrous start after being asked to bat as Alex Carey was dismissed first ball. It was a sign of things to come on this surface as the delivery stopped a bit from Shaheen Afridi and Carey only managed to inside-edge it on to his stumps. Josh Inglis managed to fetch a few boundaries to try and reverse the pressure but Abrar Ahmed’s introduction did the trick as Matthew Short chipped one back to the bowler. Marnus Labuschagne’s attempt to slog sweep didn’t pay dividends as he too departed for a low score to leave Australia hanging at 51/3.

Inglis then joined forces with Cameron Green to revive Australia with a half-century stand. While Green bided his time, Inglis was the aggressor between the two. Batting on 15 off 35 at one point, Green finally broke the shackles with a six off Shadab Khan but Pakistan struck at the other end with Inglis being undone by low bounce on the surface. With the skipper departing for 51, Australia needed their middle order to step up in the second half of the innings.

Matt Renshaw and Oliver Peake then came up with significant contributions that were worth its weight in gold on this pitch. Renshaw and Green were content rotating strike on this surface with the odd boundary. Green brought up his half-century off 85 deliveries and was dismissed with a little more than 10 overs left in the innings. Although not many boundaries were hit at the death, a six and a four from Peake in the last over of the innings dragged Australia past 230 and that made a telling difference given Pakistan also struggled with the bat.

Maaz Sadaqat endured the same fate as Carey by getting bowled in the very first over in the same manner. Matthew Kuhnemann, bowling with the new ball at the other end, sent Sahibzada Farhan packing following an excellent catch from Adam Zampa. Babar Azam tried to fight back with a couple of boundaries but Ellis managed to trap him plumb in front. The procession continued inside the Powerplay for Pakistan as Short got into the attack and opened his account with the wicket of Salman Agha.

Abdul Samad was the next to depart as he got a leading edge to chip one back to Short. When Ghazi Ghori failed to connect a sweep against Zampa that saw his stumps get rearranged, the writing appeared to be on the wall for Pakistan given they were reduced to 78/6. However, Shadab put up a fight alongside Arafat Minhas to inject some life into the run chase. The two batters were involved in a crucial half-century stand that finally came to an end after Ellis was brought back.

Shadab then targeted Green for a couple of sixes before bringing up his fifty and that was followed by Shaheen also opting for the aggressive route with a couple of fours to cause some panic in the Australian camp with Pakistan now needing only 64. But Short came to Australia’s rescue again as Shaheen edged one behind. In the end, Shadab’s lone hand went in vain as Ellis returned to claim his fourth wicket of the evening. Tanveer Sangha applied the finishing touches by ending Shadab’s 104-ball vigil that gave Australia a well-deserved win.

Brief scores: Australia 231/9 in 50 overs (Cameron Green 53, Josh Inglis 51; Shaheen Afridi 3-36, Arafat Minhas 2-27) beat Pakistan 190 in 44.1 overs (Shadab Khan 71; Nathan Ellis 4-33; Matthew Short 3-36) by 41 runs

India will tour New Zealand for a multi-format series in October-December, as part of New Zealand Cricket’s busy home summer of 2026/27.

New Zealand will host India for five T20Is, five ODIs, and two Tests across the five major centres. According to NZC, it’s the biggest in-bound tour in terms of matches (12) in NZ history. The two Tests will be played at the Cello Basin Reserve, Wellington and Hagley Oval, Christchurch, scheduled on the back of the white-ball tour that begins on October 22.

India haven’t toured New Zealand since the 2019/20 tour to play Tests, although New Zealand have visited them twice since, including their 2024/25 tour, which saw them effect a historic 3-0 Test whitewash.

The ODI series involving India will give New Zealand fans a chance to potentially see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in action in the ODI setup, the only format the two white-ball greats haven’t retired from. With the ODI World Cup next year, the five ODIs will serve as ideal preparation in the lead-up.

In the shortest format, they last faced each other in the T20 World Cup final this year. Prior to that, New Zealand had toured India to play eight white-ball games at the start of the year. Although they won the ODI series 2-1, New Zealand were hammered 4-1 in the T20I leg.

New Zealand’s hosting duties continue thereafter, with the women’s team set to play three T20Is and as many ODIs against Bangladesh. Due to the rescheduling of the inaugural ICC Women’s T20I Champions Trophy to February, New Zealand Women’s tour of Australia in February-March will not go ahead. Instead, the tour will be rescheduled.

The Men’s team will then proceed to tour Australia for four Tests before returning home to host Sri Lanka for another full series. That series will kick off with three ODIs followed by three T20Is to be played in January 2027. Following the conclusion of the white-ball leg, the two teams will then play two Test matches to conclude New Zealand’s home summer.

“When it comes to cricket – it simply doesn’t get bigger than India and we’re determined to deliver New Zealanders a tour like no other,” NZC Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, Glenn Critchley said. “This will be about more than just the cricket on the field – it will be a celebration of New Zealand’s shared history and culture with India, and our burgeoning rivalry and friendship through cricket. The passion and the following this team has is staggering – not to mention some of the players expected to tour such as Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah – so we’re bracing for the intensity and fandom that will accompany the tour.”

    Season at a glance

They started like a runaway train, hit stumbling blocks and then slipped out of the top four. Their campaign could’ve been derailed by injuries, but Rajasthan Royals picked themselves up with two timely wins to sneak into the Playoffs. Though they knocked Sunrisers Hyderabad out in the Eliminator, their charge was halted by Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.

Riyan Parag’s first full season in charge was a rollercoaster ride, but one in which the Royals made an impressive start to the post-Sanju Samson era. That said, there was a pattern to their wins. When they won Powerplays with bat and ball, they looked unstoppable. When they were forced to play early catch-up, they seldom caught up, highlighting a team that frontloaded its options and were left reliant on a few names to do their bidding.

Player of the season: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Jofra Archer enjoyed a 25-wicket season and yet he wasn’t close. The sheer absurdity of Sooryavanshi’s numbers is such after all: 776 runs, a strike-rate of 237.31 and a staggering 72 sixes, 13 clear of Chris Gayle’s 2012 tally of 59. None of Messrs Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar, Cummins, Rabada or Hazlewood were spared, while he scored a fifty in sixteen balls or under four times to underline one of the great T20 campaigns where he carried the Royals’ hopes with the bat. Sheer pace, steep bouncers and slower deliveries – he had an answer to them all. Fittingly, he walked away as the youngest winner of the MVP Award in the league’s history.

    A stat that adds up:

Through their nine wins in IPL 2026, RR picked up 24 Powerplay wickets at an economy rate of 9.57. The corresponding numbers in seven defeats read 5 wickets and an economy rate of 11.52, reiterating just how dependent they were on Powerplay wickets. Archer accounted for nearly half (14) of the 29 wickets that the Royals picked up in this phase, with little support at the other end once Nandre Burger’s early-season burst fizzled out.

    A mini-auction pick that…

Looked a million bucks: Yash Raj Punja

With no professional game under his belt, few would’ve expected the lanky leggie from Karnataka to lead RR’s spin attack halfway through the tournament. Except Punja, signed at INR 30 lakh, looked every bit the part with nine wickets at a decent economy rate of 9.30. His height gave him an obvious advantage but his control and ability to mix both the googly and the stock delivery well stood out, as did his composure at a time when RR’s campaign threatened to slip away.

    Didn’t work out: Ravi Bishnoi

The man whose spot Punja took in the XII. With nine wickets from his first four games and the Purple Cap on his head at one stage, Bishnoi enjoyed what was shaping up as a comeback season having been snapped up for INR 7.2 crore. But after a couple of expensive outings, he was left out for the game against PBKS in favour of Punja. He was the seventh bowler used against SRH as he bowled a solitary over, before two expensive ones against GT saw him dropped for good. It remains a bizarre end to what started as a promising season, potentially leaving his future at the franchise in the air on the back of Punja’s rise.

Best match of the season: The six-run win over GT in Ahmedabad

As the first team to bat first upon winning the toss in IPL 2026, RR justified it with an imposing score of 210. A GT side minus an injured Shubman Gill were bound to struggle and despite Sai Sudharsan’s 73, Bishnoi wreaked havoc with a four-fer as GT crumbled from 107/1 to 133/5. Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada threatened to snatch the game away from RR, before a four-run 19th over from Archer was followed by a Tushar Deshpande special as he nailed his yorkers to hand the Royals a six-run thriller. The win marked a rare instance of RR managing to find heroes outside Sooryavanshi and Archer in the season.

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being urgent need for introspection and 10, a celebration into the night – IPL 2026 for Rajasthan Royals has been: 7.5

When they were hot, RR looked like the team to beat. The likes of Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal had underwhelming seasons but there is no denying that they combine to form a solid batting core alongside Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel and Donovan Ferreira. Questions linger over the non-Archer end in the bowling department but if they can fix those holes, RR will be a force to reckon with in 2027.

    Season at a glance

2026 appeared to quickly head in the same direction as 2025 did. SRH were blown away in their first game and then went on to lose two more in the next three. Skipper Pat Cummins wasn’t available either with doubts remaining over his participation. But eventually, Cummins did return and the performances improved. In fact, SRH remained in contention for a top two spot at one point before settling for a place in the Eliminator – a clash that ended their campaign.

Nevertheless, 2026 will still be deemed a success given they didn’t qualify for the playoffs in 2025. While they didn’t reach the heights of 2024, SRH certainly can take a lot of positives heading into the final year of the cycle. Heinrich Klaasen was amongst the runs again, Nitish Reddy made contributions with both bat and ball and more importantly, SRH found two young uncapped Indian fast bowlers who could play pivotal roles for them in the future.

    Player of the season:Heinrich Klaasen

The South African wasn’t in great nick coming into the tournament. But he showcased why form is only temporary. Klaasen was at his absolute best in IPL 2026 and he was constantly battling it out with openers across teams for the Orange Cap despite batting in the middle order. For the first time in his IPL career, Klaasen made over 600 runs with only four players eventually finishing above him in the tournament.

    A stat that adds up:

SRH’s over-reliance on their top four was once again highlighted in IPL 2026. Their success this season was largely built on what Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen did. Two of them scored over 600 runs in the season while Abhishek finished with 563. Even Travis Head, who had a middling campaign, managed to breach 400.

    A mini auction pick that…

    Looked a million bucks:Sakib Hussain

Bought for just INR 30 lakh, Sakib Hussain managed to hit the headlines alongside Praful Hinge. The fact that they managed to nail down their spots ahead of seasoned campaigners like Jaydev Unadkat and Harshal Patel was even more impressive. Sakib in particular was very impressive with his variations and finished the campaign with 15 wickets from 11 games.

    Didn’t work out:Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone featured just twice this season and didn’t make an impression. He ended up being one of the most expensive bench warmers in IPL history given he was purchased for a massive price of INR 13 crore. Even though SRH had an overseas conundrum, the fact that Livingstone couldn’t get into the team even when Cummins wasn’t available tells a story.

Best match of the season:244-run chase against MI at Wankhede

SRH proved that hunting down 229 against RR was no fluke by immediately backing it up with another mammoth run chase against Mumbai Indians. Chasing 244 at the Wankhede, SRH’s batters put on a collective effort with even uncapped Salil Arora making an impact towards the end.

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being urgent need for introspection and 10, a celebration into the night – IPL 2026 for SRH:7

Barring one bad outing against Gujarat Titans, SRH largely looked impressive despite not being billed as one of the favourites for the title. Their famed batting unit not only put up massive totals but were also adept at chasing targets. The well-executed chase at Chepauk was another reminder of their willingness to adapt. If one of their domestic talents can step up in 2027 in the middle order, SRH can fancy their chances.
